                  CIBC World Markets Consumer Growth Conference

Overland  Park,   Kan.,   July  8,  2002  --  Applebee's   International,   Inc.
(Nasdaq:APPB)  will be  presenting  at the CIBC World  Markets  Consumer  Growth
Conference  to be held in  Boston  on  Wednesday,  July 10,  2002,  at 2:05 p.m.
Eastern Time. A webcast of this presentation will be available over the Internet
at  http://events01.activate.net/cibc/consumerlinks/applebees.htm  and will also
be  available  at  the  Investor  Relations  section  of the  company's  website
(www.applebees.com).  The archived  webcast will be available for a period of 90
