The following provider talking points may be distributed by Aetna:

ØThe goal is to continue to complement and strengthen the valuable relationships consumers have with their physicians. This includes ensuring all our members’ health care interactions are seamlessly connected through electronic medical records maintained by their personal physician and other channels. Our aim is to ensure each member gets the best care from the providers in their community.

ØWe will complement the consumer-doctor relationship by meeting people where they are and integrating more closely with all types of providers to better connect consumers with health care services and guidance.

oPrimary Care Physicians (PCP) and specialists including pediatricians will always serve an integral role in providing care to our members.

oHalf of CVS MinuteClinic patients do not have a PCP, and 50 percent of visits to a MinuteClinic occur on nights and weekends – times when a consumer’s regular doctor may be unavailable. This provides an important option for patients seeking advice and care especially when it is not otherwise readily available.

oCVS MinuteClinic has a program to encourage and refer individuals without a PCP to identify and find one. All Aetna members are encouraged to have a primary care physician and for Medicare populations we make this a requirement.

oNearly 70 percent of the U.S. population lives within three miles of a CVS Health retail store and nearly five million Americans visit CVS Health every day.

ØToday, we work closely with doctor’s offices to help coordinate care for our members, particularly those living with chronic conditions. Together with CVS and our members’ doctors, we can enhance the information-sharing and guidance. Our big-picture view means we can more effectively help coordinate care and spot (and address) problems before they occur. This service is recognized as an invaluable part of ensuring health care providers get the information they need to help their patients lead healthy lives.
