SAN DIEGO, CA - December 19, 2024 - Black in Marine Science (BIMS) successfully premiered its groundbreaking documentary "Harm in the Water." The highly anticipated event took place on December 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the beautiful Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego, California.
A night of celebration and insight The film debut of "Harm in the Water" captivated audiences during Black in Marine Science Week, an annual event focusing on professional development for Black marine scientists around the world. With a unique blend of science, storytelling, and community engagement, the premiere delivered an enlightening and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Attendees walked the blue carpet dressed in vibrant hues that celebrated the beauty of marine life. The event's theme of coral-orange reflected the fragile splendor of the planet's oceans.
"We were extremely excited to share this powerful documentary," said Dr. Tiara Moore, the founder of BIMS. "It dove headfirst into the pressing issue of environmental justice and how it impacts our oceans today. 'Harm in the Water' was an urgent call to action, elevating public awareness around the critical need for conservation efforts, especially in marginalized coastal communities. Our goal was to inspire meaningful dialogue and contribute to the preservation of our beautiful planet."
