Baron of Braemar to co-chair Magistral Session of the National Assembly of Ecuador

The Much Honoured Ambassador Otto Federico von Feigenblatt of Braemar, Baron of Braemar, is currently serving as the Andean Parliament Special Envoy for Education. On the 25th of November the Baron will be co-chairing a Magistral Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Ecuador. The distinguished academic and diplomat is honorary professor at the School of Education of Southampton University and has served as United Nations Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Observer of the International Youth Organization (OIJ). On a yearly basis, the National Assembly of Ecuador co-organizes a magistral session dealing with international development, peace, and education with the House of Feigenblatt.

These important Magistral Sessions bring together former heads of state, scholars, business leaders, and political leaders to discuss pressing issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. 2025’s Session will focus on the challenges and opportunities brought about by Artificial Intelligence. Another purpose of the Magistral Session of the House of Feigenblatt and its related side events is to promote international commerce and tourism. The Baron of Braemar will be meeting with the presidents of several chambers of commerce and professional associations to promote heritage tourism and investment in Great Britain. South America is a dynamic region with an important commercial relationship with the United Kingdom and thus there are important opportunities for cooperation.

The House of Feigenblatt is a hereditary noble household with a mission to promote international development, education, and peace. It has official relations with the Andean Parliament and the Central American Parliament. The House of Feigenblatt works with over thirty universities and non-profit organizations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas on a wide range of projects such as scholarships, human capital development, and capacity building. Three former presidents of Ecuador are members of the House of Feigenblatt. This year’s keynote speakers include Dr. Pablo Campos Calvo-Sotelo, Professor of Architecture at CEU University in Spain, Professor Chris Brown, Head of the School of Education of the University of Southampton, Niels Olsen, President of the National Assembly of Ecuador, and Justinia Zambrano, Vice Minister of Government of the Republic of Ecuador.

Lord Braemar is active as a philanthropist and consultant in the Americas. The Baron has received important accolades for his work in the field of international educational policy making in Latin America, such as the Order of Simon Bolivar for Latin American Integration from the Andean Parliament, the Grand Cross of the Order of President Arosemena from the Republic of Panama, the Order of Honor of Central American Merit “Roberto Carpio Nicolle” from the Central American Parliament, among many others. His Lordship’s latest book is titled “Ethics in Social Science Research: Current Insights and Practical Strategies” and it was published by Springer Nature.
