In HuMachine Era: Artificial Intelligence and the Reshaping of Society’s Future, sociologist and technology analyst Madee Salehi confronts a reality many institutions are only beginning to recognize. Salehi argues that Artificial intelligence is no longer a background technology. It has become an active force, restructuring society at every level.
At the core of the book lies a fundamental thesis: what is unfolding today is not a simple social change process running parallel to technological advancement. Rather, it is the formation of emerging types of social-technological realities unprecedented in human history. For this reason, the author demonstrates that a future shaped by advanced artificial intelligence will constitute a new type of society, a new generation of people, and a range of unfamiliar conditions that existing mindsets are ill-equipped to anticipate.
To conclude this argument, Salehi examines the corporate world in more detail. He analyzes how AI is transforming major organizations across business and service sectors, state institutions, and educational systems. He shows how the extensive use of advanced AI applications alters the very structure and function of these systems, especially how they make decisions, compete, and interact with their external environments. From the automation of knowledge work and algorithm-driven strategy to internal process redesign and shifting lines of authority, organizations are entering a phase in which AI is not merely optimizing operations but redefining institutional identity and power itself.
Salehi introduces the concept of the “HuMachine” generation. It is not a robot, but people like us, only with a deeply altered mindset, individuals whose cognitive patterns are formed within AI-saturated environments. He argues that widespread misunderstandings about the consequences of life in an AI- integrated environment, and how it operates, could have serious economic, organizational, and societal risks. This makes reading this book quite enlightening and helpful.
Direct, analytical, and forward-looking, this book provides leaders, policymakers, executives, educators, and investors with a clear framework for understanding AI’s structural impact. The future is not approaching; it is already embedded within our institutions.
