AUSTIN, TX / ACCESSWIRE / December 16, 2024 / Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD), a nonprofit organization devoted to advancing the quality of life for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, is proud to announce the promotion of Greg Pollock to Division President of ASL Now, one of CSD's key divisions.
Greg Pollock has been with CSD since 2021, playing a pivotal role in the growth and success of Direct Video Calling (DVC), a groundbreaking telecommunications solution designed to achieve communication equity for Deaf and hard of hearing callers, while also making it more affordable.
Greg's strategic partnerships with federal and state agencies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) secured funding for ASL Now's vital projects, including adding an ASL line to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The implementation of this lifeline was a significant development for the accessibility of emergency services.
Additionally, Greg has been a tireless advocate for communication access, playing a key role in advancing the Communications, Video, and Technology Accessibility Act (CVTA). This collaboration included organizations such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), National Association of the Deaf (NAD), TDIforAccess, Deaf Equality, and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Consumer Advocacy Network (DHHCAN).
"I am deeply honored to be promoted to Division President of ASL Now and carry forward CSD's 50-year legacy of championing of communication equity," said Greg Pollock. "What humbles and inspires me most is the team built around this cause. The passion, creativity, and heart they bring to this mission are constant reminders of why this work matters. Direct Video Calling is more than a technological advancement - it's a catalyst for dignity, autonomy, and inclusion. Together, we are breaking barriers and fighting for a future where communication equity is not just a vision, but a reality for the Deaf and hard of hearing community."
Greg brings strong leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to advancing ASL Now's goals. Under his guidance, CSD is confident that ASL Now will continue to make a transformative and lasting impact.
"Greg's efforts in building a high-performing business development team and cultivating key relationships has positioned ASL Now for abundant success as we look toward 2025," said CSD's CEO Christopher Soukup. "I am excited to see Greg continue to lead ASL Now as we pursue our ambitious and meaningful vision for a more equitable communication experience for our community. His strategic vision, passion for our mission, and proven track record make him the ideal leader to drive ASL Now's continued success."
