Company pledges support for diversity, inclusion, equal pay, and adaptive athletes to inspire more equitable opportunities for all people

UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, and workforce management solutions for all people, today announced the company earned a 100% score on the 2022 Disability Equality Index created by Disability:IN, the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide. This marks the second consecutive year UKG scored 100% on the index.

“It is an absolute honor for UKG to once again achieve 100% on the Disability Equality Index,” said Brian K. Reaves, chief belonging, diversity, and equity officer at UKG. “Earning 100% for the second year in a row tells us we are continuing to uphold our commitments to building a company that respects and cares for all people equally. While we know we are not quote, un-quote, perfect, we will continue our critical work each day to instill a culture where every U Krewer is uniquely valued and feels empowered at work and beyond to live their greater purpose outside of UKG.”

Launched in 2015 by Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the Disability Equality Index is acknowledged today as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool in business. Top-scoring businesses like UKG — those that score 80% or higher on the index — are recognized as Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion by Disability:IN.

As an example of the company’s commitment to inclusion, UKG recently announced its sponsorship of seven-time Paralympic medalist and U.S. veteran Dan Cnossen, who recently brought home gold in the mixed relay at the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing. Cnossen is the first adaptive athlete to partner with UKG, an idea that was inspired by members of the company’s ADAPT (Accessibility and Disability Allies Partner Together) employee resource group (ERG). Moreover, UKG is a founding member of the Special Olympics USA Games 2022 Club, and members of ADAPT participated as volunteers and attendees at the Special Olympics events, held in Orlando this past June.

“We’re proud and privileged to support athletes like Dan, who exemplify the kind of heart we strive to infuse in our culture, products, and services every day at UKG,” said Pat Wadors, chief people officer at UKG. “We know people are set up for great success when they’re personally supported and their unique needs are met throughout their career journeys. Our goal is to help people achieve that success in life and at work.”

Alongside ADAPT, UKG offers seven additional ERGs as part of its people-driven culture and purpose:

  • AsPIRE (Asians and Pacific Islanders Raising Equity), an equitable community where members feel safe, seen, heard, and part of one Ohana (“family”)
  • BUILD (Black Upcoming Individuals in Leadership and Development), which fosters inclusion and advancement for Black employees at all levels
  • CARES (Cancer Awareness Resources Education and Support), providing a community where people do not have to walk alone in the cancer fight
  • FIRE (Female Inclusion, Resilience, and Excellence) Up, which cultivates an inclusive and supportive community of change through the power of growth, allyship, and networking to advance equity for all women
  • PRIDE, driving inclusion for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and all UKG employees
  • UNIDOS (Uplift, Network, Impact, Develop, Orgullo, and Support), supporting the Hispanic and Latinx community and their allies
  • VETS, for military veterans, their families and friends, along with UKG colleagues and supporters of veterans.

Making Pay Equity a Reality

In addition to earning 100% on the 2022 Disability Equality Index, UKG is also actively working to foster a more equitable society. This includes the comprehensive UKG Close the Gap Initiative, a multi-year, multi-million-dollar commitment aimed at closing the gender wage gap in the United States. Most recently, UKG announced a historic partnership with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) that will make the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup the first-ever women’s professional soccer tournament to achieve pay equity with their U.S. peers in the men’s game, with UKG as the inaugural title sponsor.

Pledging Support for Wellbeing, Diversity, Inclusion

UKG also recently signed the Thrive pledge to support employee mental health and wellbeing, partnering with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Thrive, the behavior-change technology company founded by Arianna Huffington. Additionally, UKG is part of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge, in which leading companies across industries pledge their action and support for a more inclusive workplace for employees, their communities, and society at large.

Earlier this month, company-review site Comparably named Aron Ain, executive chair of the UKG Board of Directors, to its 2022 list of Best CEOs for Diversity in the Large Companies category. The list honors the top-rated CEOs according to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) employees, based solely on anonymous reviews and sentiment ratings. Ain recently transitioned from UKG board chairman and longtime CEO to executive chair, with former UKG president, Chris Todd, appointed CEO as part of the company’s succession plan, effective July 1.
