AllianzIM Announces New Upside Caps for January Series of U.S. Large Cap Buffered ETFs

Allianz Investment Management LLC (AllianzIM), a registered investment adviser and wholly-owned subsidiary of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life), announced today the reset of its January series of U.S. Large Cap Buffered Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The January series includes two ETFs with a 12-month Outcome Period: the AllianzIM U.S. Large Cap Buffer10 Jan ETF (NYSE Arca: JANT) and the AllianzIM U.S. Large Cap Buffer20 Jan ETF (NYSE Arca: JANW), as well as the AllianzIM U.S. Large Cap 6 Month Buffer10 Jan/July ETF (NYSE Arca: SIXJ) with a six-month Outcome Period.

After volatility dominated markets in 2022, incorporating risk mitigation tools into investor portfolios is paramount looking to the year ahead. The January series ETFs seek to match the share price returns of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust up to a stated Cap, while providing downside risk mitigation through a Buffer against the first 10% and 20% of SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust losses.

“2022 was a challenging year for equities and fixed income products,” says Brian Muench, president, AllianzIM. “As we begin 2023 with market uncertainty and rising interest rates, our suite of Buffered ETFs provides investors and advisors with expansive risk mitigation tools to navigate ongoing volatility. While we can’t predict how the market will behave this year, the built-in buffer in our ETFs can help people stay invested in the market.”

Offered at an annual expense ratio of 74 basis points, AllianzIM’s extensive suite of Buffered ETFs with six- and 12-month outcome periods provide the opportunity for investors to invest in ETFs with new Caps every month. The 12-month Outcome Period of the January series ETFs will be January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 and the 6-month Outcome Period will be from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023. Each Outcome Period reflects a new stated Cap commensurate with prevailing market conditions, allowing investors to remain invested with a level of risk mitigation.

“AllianzIM has a long history of equipping investors with the tools needed to navigate the ups and downs of the market cycle,” added Muench. “This remains our primary goal as we embark on another year of uncertainty in the markets.”

The AllianzIM Buffered ETFs seek to leverage AllianzIM’s core strengths, which include risk management experience and in-house hedging capabilities.

As part of Allianz SE, one of the largest asset management and diversified insurance companies in the world, AllianzIM, with AUM of $18.8 billion (as of 6.30.22)2, is powered by the same proprietary in-house hedging platform that is used among affiliates to help manage more than $145 billion in hedged assets for institutional and retail investors around the globe. Offering a new way to help investors seek to mitigate risk and reduce volatility, these Buffered ETFs complement Allianz Life’s suite of annuity and life insurance products.
