According to NAM, memberships reflect the height of professional achievement and commitment to service for those at the top of their field. NAM is one of three academies that make up the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (the National Academies) in the United States, which dates to 1863 when President Abraham Lincoln signed a congressional charter forming the private, nonprofit institution aimed to provide insight to the federal government and other organizations. NAM memberships reflect the height of professional achievement and commitment to service for those at the top of their field.

Her current research focuses on innovations in personalized trials (N of 1) to manage chronic disease and patient symptoms by incorporating patient preferences and values.

“It is an honor to be elected to the National Academy of Medicine and to be recognized among so many other esteemed researchers, clinicians and clinical leaders,” said Dr. Davidson, who is also dean of academic affairs at the Feinstein Institutes and the Zucker Endowed Professor in Health Outcomes, in the departments of medicine, psychiatry and cardiology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. “Together, we will pioneer innovative approaches to improving patient outcomes and quality of life and care.”

Recently, Dr. Davidson was named PI by The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to participate in its Health Systems Implementation Initiative (HSII), which will use clinical excellence and research expertise to help develop and implement viable strategies that will ultimately improve patient care and outcomes.
