American National Bank of Texas Names Marcelo Mills as Emerging Markets President

Veteran banker will focus on increasing and supporting business ownership in Southern Dallas

American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX) has hired Marcelo D. Mills as emerging markets president to increase and support business relationships throughout Southern Dallas. In addition, this new role will help meet the diverse needs of business owners while furthering the bank’s mission and commitment to serve and strengthen its local communities.

“Marcelo’s background – both professionally and personally – is ideal to lead our emerging markets team,” said Robert Hulsey, president and chief executive officer of American National Bank of Texas. “He has the financial expertise and acumen, knows what it takes to be a successful business owner, and, most importantly, he’s passionate about serving others.”

Mills and the team will work on strategic initiatives that help both aspiring entrepreneurs and existing owners. A key priority will be assisting with common challenges that affect growth and ownership, such as financial literacy or language proficiency.

“Growing up in a first generation Mexican-American family in North Texas, most of whom are business owners, I saw firsthand the barriers they faced,” said Mills. “I understand the importance of having local resources that can assist you, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this effort for ANBTX.”

The emerging markets team will focus on growing and underrepresented markets across the metroplex, with an emphasis on Southern Dallas County. “Many minority-owned businesses, particularly in parts of Dallas, don’t have the solutions or support they need,” said Mills. “There’s a huge demand for a bank that provides superior financial services and delivers an authentic, customer-first experience, and I think ANBTX, with its legacy and commitment to businesses, is that bank.”

Mills attended Texas A&M University-Commerce and grew up in Haslet, Texas. He has spent most of his career in commercial and business banking and has served on multiple boards for local and national non-profit organizations. Two years ago, he founded Integro Bank in Phoenix, where he was senior vice president of business banking. He returned to North Texas earlier this year and resides in Fate, Texas, with his family.
