On Wednesday, December 11th, Santa is set to arrive in unforgettable style, flying over the snowy downtown Los Angeles sky in his "chopper sleigh" courtesy of 30-year partner, the LAPD SWAT team, before rappelling down the LuskinOIC Medical Pavilion wall to greet the ecstatic crowd. More than 1,000 pediatric patients, their families, and children in the community will gather at LuskinOIC's historic 114-year-old campus, which will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland to experience a festive day of gifts, joy, and holiday cheer.
At the heart of this magical day is LuskinOIC’s unwavering mission to advance health equity for every child in Los Angeles and beyond. More than 85% of LuskinOIC’s patients are underinsured; the nonprofit relies on the enduring support of donors and dedicated sponsors to help provide specialty care for children with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders and advances patient-centered care worldwide. The Institute also actively promotes medical education and groundbreaking scientific research in orthopaedics. In alliance with UCLA Health, LuskinOIC stands as the largest provider of pediatric orthopaedic care in CA, receives 60,000 patient visits annually, and offers pro-bono treatment to patients in Calexico and Mexicali, among other cities worldwide through their International Children’s Program.
“LuskinOIC treasures ending the year by bringing joy to our patients, their families, and the community whose trust we endeavor to earn every day,” stated LuskinOIC President and CEO, Dr. Anthony A. Scaduto. “We deliver state-of-the-art care to socioeconomically disadvantaged children and make sure their holistic care includes emotional and community support because no child should go without the healthcare they need and deserve.”
Guests will enjoy a meet and greet with the LA Galaxy Star Squad, LA Galaxy sports challenge and giveaway, Angel City interactive Adaptive Sports demo, bracelet making station, antler station, basketball hoop challenge, arts and crafts, face painting, a book fair, holiday treats, and music by DJ Amused!
The afternoon is made possible by our wonderful donors and partners which include, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Automobile Club of Southern California, Clear Channel, Apple, LA Ghostbusters, The Book Foundation, LA Galaxy, Jerry Langford- Magician, Project Sunshine, Photobooth Party LA, Orthopaedic Medical Magnet High School, UCLA & USC student organizations, LuskinOIC’s support groups, and the LAPD SWAT team.
