Kopin Achieves Important Technical Milestones in Development of NeuralDisplay™ Architecture

Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN), a leading provider of application-specific optical solutions and high-performance micro-displays for defense, enterprise, consumer, and medical products, today announced it has achieved two important milestones in the development of its NeuralDisplay™ architecture for consumer and defense applications, which has been an on-going effort, for the past year.

Kopin has been developing a software-defined, artificially intelligent microdisplay architecture for integrated eye tracking and dynamic brightness and contrast controls. This new platform is designed to allow Kopin’s organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and inorganic light-emitting diode (MicroLED) display customers to adapt the technology to the user and not force the user to adapt to the technology in a highly cost-effective manner.

As part of the development plan, Kopin has demonstrated an OLED display that tracks eye movement, position and gaze while displaying video using Kopin’s internally developed software and AI engine. The robust hardware architecture for the NeuralDisplay includes display units and binocular wearable mounts. This design not only supports the fundamental features of the technology but is also versatile enough to demonstrate its key benefits effectively.

Further, Kopin has developed proprietary eye-tracking signal flows and is focused on expanding datasets to train more sophisticated and robust AI models, which are expected to improve performance and reliability significantly.

“Additional testing and validation of the prototype is required; however, we believe current results demonstrate the ability of Kopin to develop and produce the technology, and we are extremely pleased with the progress we are making,” stated Bill Maffucci, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, Kopin. “We believe we are on track to complete this development successfully and that the concept is capable of achieving our goals for outstanding display performance with integrated sensing capabilities.”
