National Investment Services Announces Leadership Transition

Equipped with over 16 years of experience at NIS, Bartlett J. McCartin has been named CEO-Elect and will fully inherit the CEO role from Robert P. Brooks on January 1, 2026.

Brooks will serve as CEO throughout 2025 to ensure a seamless leadership transition for employees and clients.

National Investment Services (“NIS”), an experienced asset manager providing fixed income and alternative strategies to institutional investors for over three decades, today announced the appointment of Bartlett J. McCartin as CEO-Elect. Following unanimous approval from NIS’ Board of Directors, the new move is effective as of January 2025. Mr. McCartin will fully inherit the CEO role from Robert P. Brooks on January 1, 2026.

Mr. Brooks will continue to serve as CEO throughout 2025, ensuring a seamless year-long transition period for NIS’ clients, institutional partners, and employees.

“NIS has been my home since 2008, and I’m both thrilled and humbled to step into this role,” Mr. McCartin said. “Over the past 16 years, I have developed a deep understanding of our firm and clients, while cultivating key relationships and building trust across the institutional and Taft-Hartley space. That experience, coupled with working alongside Bob and the entire NIS team, has been invaluable. Knowing that the core of our firm will remain constant, I’m excited to lead NIS into our next phase of growth and continue improving our offerings in the institutional marketplace.”

Added Mr. Brooks, “This transition is a natural progression. Bart has been a major contributor to NIS’ growth in recent years, both in terms of product development and the expansion of our firm’s relationships and AUM. Bart has consistently demonstrated unique leadership capabilities and industry expertise. As he transitions to this new role, he will continue to focus on nurturing and growing our relationship with clients, consultants, and the industry at large. Our firm has a tremendous future ahead, I know Bart will thrive in this new position, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with him over the coming year to capitalize on our recent momentum and set NIS up for continued, sustained success."

Throughout 2025 and beyond, Mr. McCartin will assume responsibility for all daily company operations and institutional relationships, in addition to the leadership and long-term strategic vision of the firm. Mr. Brooks will remain as Chairman.

This announcement comes after what has been a successful period for the firm, as NIS’ assets under management grew by 30 percent since 2023.

Mr. Brooks has been dedicated to the firm and its clients for over 31 years, serving as CEO since 2010, and has been instrumental in supporting the firm’s growth to $13 billion in AUM. In 2019, he helped create a partnership with asset management firm Resolute Investment Managers, which became NIS’ majority shareholder and has been critical to NIS’ recent success.

Mr. McCartin has been an integral contributor to the firm’s growth, having served as a Principal and Managing Partner since 2009, in addition to managing a number of senior relationships and overseeing an array of corporate responsibilities.

Prior to joining NIS, Mr. McCartin served as the first executive vice president of Aker, based in Oslo, Norway. He was responsible for the $2.1 billion construction and engineering group operating in the US, Canada, South America and EU, and led the acquisition integration of his previously held, multi-generational, family-owned business purchased by Aker at the end of 2005. Before Aker, Mr. McCartin was the president and chief executive officer of The McCartin Group/McCartin Industrial Services Group, where he led the 96-year-old, third-generation industrial construction and engineering companies.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. McCartin serves as the Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago. He has been involved with the organization for over 20 years, 14 of which included a position on the corporate board, and previously served two terms as Chairman.
