Global Asian Media Entertainment Brings Together Asia’s Best in Film, Music, and Fashion

Los Angeles, CA - December 1, 2022 - In partnership with the Asian World Film Festival (AWFF), Global Asian Media Entertainment live streamed the eighth annual Asian World Film Festival (AWFF)’s red carpet and closing ceremony on the Global Asian Media Entertainment (GAME) channel on Roku TV. This marks the first live streaming of an Asian-focused film festival to a wide audienc.

Winners and honorees were announced on the evening of November 18th at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. Oscar®-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy (“The Godfather,” “Million Dollar Baby”) was awarded this year's Snow Leopard Lifetime Achievement Award and Cannes award-winning writer, director, producer Park Chan-wook (“Decision to Leave,” “The Handmaiden”) was given the Snow Leopard Outstanding Cinematic Achievement Award. In addition, actor, writer, producer Desmond Chiam ("The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," "With Love") was presented with the Snow Leopard Rising Star Award and Hong Kong Film Award-winning actor, martial artist, director, and producer Daniel Wu ("Westworld," “Caught in Time”), was honored with the Bruce Lee Award. The quartet, along with competition winners and philanthropic and benefactor honorees, celebrated at Red carpet and the Closing Night Gala awards ceremony and reception on November 18 at Saban Theater, Beverly Hills.

Among the stars was also actor Nils Allen "Booboo" Stewart Jr. (“The Twilight Saga,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) attended the opening ceremony to show support for the Asian-empowered partnership. The actor showcased his directorial debut in the music video "Tattoo" by That Band Honey on the GAME channel’s Asian Creative Spotlight program.

Made by Asians for Asia and beyond, the GAME channel on Roku was established to boost Asian representation across various media formats and highlight its culture, lifestyle, music, fashion, character, stories, diversity, and talents on screen.

“While Asian representation has improved in recent years, the amount of exposure still falls short, especially in lead roles on and off the camera,” says founder Xiao Qiao Liu Winter. “We hope to change the narrative and put Asia in the global spotlight.”

The company will broadcast its Asian content on Roku and provide viewers with their own OTT platform, enabling them to stream on demand and access their favorite Asian-inspired productions on the go with a touch of a button.
