Run by the Stanwix Community Association, a registered charity, Stanwix Community Centre has undergone several modernisation programs to align it with emerging needs. The association explains that proceeds from bookings contribute to the centre’s upkeep, so those who use the facility are also supporting the continuation of an important community asset.
“Although we offer this facility primarily to the residents, families, and businesses of Stanwix, we welcome enquiries and bookings from individuals, groups, and businesses from the whole of the Carlisle area,” an association representative explained. “Our up-to-date facility is the result of many years of hard work, so we encourage anyone with a requirement to take a look and consider supporting our work.”
The main room in Stanwix Community Centre is 7 metres by 9 metres, and the association states that tables and chairs are available for groups of between 20 and 30 people. A modernised kitchen allows for preparation of food and drinks for both social gatherings and business meetings.
Stanwix Community Association explains that the centre can support almost any requirement, dependent on the size of the group. Some of the events that have already been held include first aid courses, adult education, and a display of rare Roman artefacts from a nearby archaeological dig.
“We now offer a convenient online booking capability, complete with availability calendar, for any one-off or ad-hoc requirements,” the association continued. “When you compare our community centre with similar facilities in Carlisle, you’ll see that our rates are extremely competitive.”
