Distinguished Connecticut Attorney Admitted To Prestigious United States Supreme Court Bar

Attorney Lisa J. Cappalli was admitted in a ceremony that took place in Washington D.C., in the presence of all nine Supreme Court Justices.

Hartford, Connecticut, September 2, 2024 — Freed Marcroft Divorce & Family Law is honored to announce the admission of Attorney Lisa J. Cappalli, who is Of Counsel to the firm, to the United States Supreme Court Bar on June 6, 2024. This achievement signifies recognition by the highest judicial body in the United States, underscoring her exceptional legal acumen and years of practical experience.

Cappalli is a graduate of Lehigh University who later earned her Juris Doctor at Cornell University Law School. For decades, her career has been aimed at helping her clients divorce respectfully, privately, and creatively through both mediation and collaborative law.

One of her proudest professional accomplishments remains her efforts to create a non-adversarial divorce practice long before it was popular. While it wasn’t always easy or profitable, Cappalli never abandoned her vision of offering clients a different and better way to divorce. In 2017, the divorce lawyer joined the Freed Marcroft team, as Of Counsel.

For litigators, there is no greater or more elusive honor than to have the privilege of arguing before the Supreme Court, the highest form of law in this country. In order to do so, the individual must apply and be admitted to the Supreme Court Bar – an honor that Lisa Cappalli has now been granted.

Moreover, those admitted can also attend oral arguments and sit in a special section of the courtroom reserved for members of the Supreme Court Bar, as well as have their name added to the official roll of attorneys who are eligible to practice before the Supreme Court.

Cappalli had this to say of her achievement: “I was surprised the experience affected me as strongly as it did. Personally humbling. Proud of my country, our Constitution, and my profession. Thank you to the lawyers who sponsored my application and to the American Bar Association for moving my admission.”

Co-founding and co-managing attorneys Meghan Freed and Kristen Marcroft are beyond elated for their colleague, both personally and professionally, and are enthusiastic about the level of credibility and excellence it adds to the firm’s reputation.
