Optimalon Software Has Launched Free Online Panels and Rectangular Sheets Cutter

By: PRLog
PR Log - Mar 05, 2012 - Optimalon Software has launched a new free web-based application that allows for cutting optimization of panels and sheets of raw materials. The application calculates and displays cutting layouts that maximize the material usage and minimize waste for industrial engineers, project managers and other professionals involved in cutting two-dimensional panels and sheets of raw materials.

Having been in the software business for more than seven years, Optimalon Software recognizes the importance of web-based solutions and developed this newest cutting optimization application for the Internet. Its sheer power comes from its mobility and accessibility worldwide. Users can run the online panel cutter from any smartphone or tablet that has a web browser and Internet access.

The online panel cutter allows for specifying and modifying rectangular stock panels (sheets) and rectangular parts that need to be cut from the stocks. Users can define the saw kerf (blade thickness), the complexity of the guillotine cuts, panel trim sizes and other optimization options. Users can then save all input data as a project in a database and have an access to it later.

The application uses high-performance optimization engine GNCutter32 developed by Optimalon Software. The engine runs on a web server and calculates the cutting layouts in a matter of seconds. When the calculation is done, the web server generates graphical cutting layouts with detailed information about used stocks and utilization rates.

Beside graphical layout the users get two spreadsheet files with parts placements and list of guillotine cuts for each layout. The part placement spreadsheet specifies the coordinates of each part on the stocks along with part IDs and indication if the part will be rotated by 90 degrees during the cutting. The guillotine cuts spreadsheet lists the sequence of the cutting operations that produce parts from the stocks. Each cutting operation is defined by start point (X,Y) and end point (X,Y) coordinates.

The online panel cutter is completely free to anyone and accessible from Optimalon’s website at the following link: http://www.optimalon.com/online_cut_optimizer.htm
