Bitcoin Alliance of Canada Gains Numbers and Publicity

By: PRLog
With the goals of representing Bitcoin in the media and providing resources to merchants and the general public, the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada is receiving national attention

PRLog - May 14, 2013 - TORONTO, Canada -- The newly formed Bitcoin Alliance of Canada (BAC) has been gaining popularity amid the booming Bitcoin economy.  "We've been experiencing a snowball effect in the past weeks since announcing the formation of the BAC on April 17th," explains one of the founding members, Anthony Di Iorio. "Bitcoin enthusiasts across Canada have been reaching out to get involved, and the response has been extremely positive and quite frankly overwhelming," says Di Iorio. Journalists and radio hosts, merchants, entrepreneurs, web developers, and people with various forms of involvement in Bitcoin have contacted the BAC. "We've been able to develop quite an extensive database of Bitcoin specialists from across Canada eager to engage in one way or another with the Alliance," continues Anthony.

In the past month, the BAC has garnered attention from national news networks, as well as experienced an influx of people willing to participate. This is due partly to Bitcoin's prevalence rising, with public reception for the system steadily improving. The demand for Bitcoin news is increasing daily, as newspapers, magazines, and numerous websites are publishing whatever news they can find on this trending topic. "I don't think it will be long before Bitcoin becomes a household name in Canada," Di Iorio predicts. "There has been new venture capital money flowing into Bitcoin-related projects recently and developments like this warrant the need for organized news on the subject."  As the infrastructure of the Bitcoin economy develops, so too must the organizations that wish to provide news and information on it. This is what the BAC will strive to accomplish.

The blueprint the BAC is formulating is something that could successfully translate to other countries. The formula tackles the needs in every country when it comes to promoting Bitcoin in the media, while also providing assistance and resources to merchants looking to start accepting Bitcoin, and to the general public regarding this new Internet currency. The BAC will also provide an example of organized and efficient methods of reaching out by attending Bitcoin-related meetings and getting actively involved in current discussions on Bitcoin.

There will be a strong presence of Canadians at the Bitcoin 2013 conference later this month in San Jose, California. "There's at least a dozen people I've spoken with who are making the trip down to San Jose from Canada," Di Iorio says. The Bitcoin Alliance of Canada is hosting a meetup for Canadians at the Affinity bar in the Hilton San Jose (attached to the convention center) at 5:30 on Saturday, May 18th. Following the convention, those interested in having direct positions in the alliance will be meeting to formulate the board and overall structure of the organization moving forward.

Support and involvement is encouraged in this endeavor to establish widespread understanding of Bitcoin and to promoting its use among merchants and consumers in Canada. For media requests, and general inquires, please contact the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada.
