PRLog - Aug. 1, 2014 - SEDONA, Ariz. -- Much has materialized in the last forty-two years in and around the Red Rocks of Sedona Arizona. Tourists by the thousands now make their pilgrimages to be energized, to meditate, or to have their curiosity satisfied. Sedona is second only to the Grand Canyon as a tourist attraction.

Mary and Gary Garland have worked tirelessly to preserve and maintain the magical ten-acre resort along Oak Creek, just north of Slide Rock State Park, tucked away just North of Sedona off of 89A in the heart of Oak Creek Canyon, where families have been coming for the same week, year after year.

Ken McElroy and his partners, Alex Brigham and Kim and Robert Kiyosaky are humbled to be the new owners of this hidden oasis, this sanctuary titled Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge. They are honored to have been preferred and selected to continue the legacy from the Todd’s to the Garlands and now to them, a pledge not taken lightly. This is a true piece of Arizona history, a place where Ken and Alex youngsters will hone some of life’s fundamental proficiencies, seeing and feeling firsthand, the importance of fresh grown produce by helping work the land and to help around grounds during the summers off from school. There is no plot to change much, including the entire very dedicated and talented staff.

There's something about Garland's that brings out the kindness and friendliness in everyone. When families and couples slow down and start to talk and connect, great conversations ensue, like in the old days, with no distractions.

LOT’s of Conversation

Bill and Georgiana Garland, and their children were old acquaintances of the Todds, having spent many summers in Oak Creek to escape the heat of Phoenix. All elatedly agreed to purchase the Lodge as a family project when it was offered for sale in 1972. The Garlands qualify as "early" Sedonans. Georgianna Isham Garland, the family matriarch, started coming to Oak Creek Canyon with her parents in the 1920s, before there was electricity or even a paved road running through this spectacular setting, and although many things have changed, the land, the views and all that makes Garland’s such a magical place has not changed, and certainly isn’t going to change now.
