Metro Credit Union Hosts Fundraiser to Benefit the Neighborhood Developers and Connect

Metro Credit Union hosted a fundraiser to benefit The Neighborhood Developers (TND) and Chelsea CONNECT on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. The event has grown from a backyard barbeque to an inter-community networking and fundraising event.

Saritin Rizzuto, AVP of Community Relations and Business Development, has organized this event from its inception. “I’m so glad Metro is able to offer its support to TND and CONNECT in a way that is highly tangible. In turn, these organizations can offer support to the Chelsea, Revere and Everett communities through the excellent work that they do,” Rizzuto commented.

Chelsea City Manager, Jay Ash, Revere Mayor, Dan Rizzo and Metro Credit Union President and CEO, Robert Cashman led opening remarks.

“As a credit union, our goal is to provide financial education and products and services that are affordable and flexible,” said Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO. “We partner with key organizations like TND and CONNECT to help ensure the dream of home ownership can become a reality as well as offer the right advice, guidance and resources for people to make smart financial decisions.”

The combination of TND and CONNECT offers an integrated program approach to neighborhood revitalization efforts through the building of affordable housing, economic self-sufficiency and community and civic engagement.

Ann Houston, Executive Director of The Neighborhood Developers states, "No wonder Chelsea and Revere are seen as rising stars: both have exceptional civic and business leaders who are willing to invest in their communities. The Neighborhood Developers is grateful to Metro Credit Union, the Chambers of Commerce from Chelsea, Revere and East Boston for sponsoring a fun and successful event to support our work building thriving neighborhoods in Chelsea and Revere.”

Tuesday’s event was held at Metro Credit Union’s headquarters located at 200 Revere Beach Parkway. Over 100 people attended and helped drive fundraising efforts led by raffles and a silent auction.
