Docurama Network Releases iPad and iPhone App

Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM) announced today the release of the Docurama app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, continuing the expansion for its Docurama brand. The direct-to-consumer digital streaming network is already available on over 165 million devices including Xbox, Roku, Amazon Fire, Samsung, Opera and Connected TVs.

An ad-supported, on-demand streaming channel, Docurama provides audiences FREE access to a vast library of award winning, critically acclaimed documentaries covering a variety of genres.

“The launch of the Docurama app enables even more fans access to our extensive library of inspiring, entertaining documentary features,” elaborates Susan Margolin, President of Docurama. Margolin promises fans a more satisfying viewing experience, commenting that the new interface promises to be “incredibly intuitive and easy to navigate.” Most importantly, Margolin hopes this will be a community resource. “We want to hear from members of the documentary community, to engage in a meaningful dialogue with contributors, fans and future collaborators striving to explore the edges of documentary programming.”

Expanding access to and awareness for non-fiction entertainment has been a longstanding mission of the Docurama brand and this release marks an important milestone for the brand in connecting mobile and tablet users with award winning, critically acclaimed documentary films. This announcement follows on the heels of ten Docurama titles receiving nominations for the 35th Annual News & Documentary Emmys®, including Invisible War, Valentine Road, Gasland Part II, Pussy Riot, The World Before Her, Chasing Ice, Girl Rising, Detropia, The Waiting Room and Beauty is Embarrassing.

The Docurama digital channel offers audiences free, unlimited access to real-life stories across a wide array of genres, including:

  • Pop Culture (Woody Allen: A Documentary, Best Worst Movie)
  • Sports thrillers (Carmelo’s Way, Endless Summer, Faster and Faster)
  • Environmental activism (HBO’s Gasland, Save The Farm)
  • War, History & Politics (Hell & Back Again, The Weather Underground)
  • Arts & Music (The Swell Season, Beatles Stories, Soundtrack for a Revolution)
  • Human Interest (The Waiting Room, Hungry for Change, The World Before Her)
  • Travel & Leisure (Crazy Horse, The Highest Pass)

The channel offers fresh content and programming each month and customizes its offerings to match viewer demand and reflect current events, trends and seasonal holidays. Numerous Academy-Award® nominees and winners are scheduled to be featured on Docurama including films from Alex Gibney, Fred Wiseman, Stacy Peralta, Liz Garbus and Josh Fox.

Moving forward, Docurama’s aspirations include interviews with renowned documentary filmmakers and festival programmers, film festival coverage, sneak peek clips for upcoming films, short form and other original programming. Current channel partners include Arthouse Films, Connell Creations, First Run Features, Kinonation, Mill Creek Entertainment and MVD.
