Klick Health’s Leerom Segal Named EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 Media & Technology Award Winner

Upon being named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Ontario 2014 Media & Technology award recipient last night, Klick Health CEO Leerom Segal acknowledged how lucky he feels to be working in the health industry to help bring innovative therapies to patients battling for their lives.

“At some point in our lives, pretty much every one of us will become a patient. What could be more meaningful and motivating than investing the limited time we have on this planet to improve the human condition and give people a second chance at the quality of life we all deserve?” Segal asked the over 1,200 black-tie-clad guests assembled in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre ballroom.

Within social media, @KevMcGurganFCO tweeted: “Inspiring speech from Leerom Segal of @klickhealth on winning #EOYOntario award for innovative healthcare...”

“What makes Leerom such a standout is his passion and drive to take technology and create something game-changing,” said Colleen McMorrow, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National and Ontario Program Director. “He’s an innovator at heart and we’re pleased to recognize him as our Entrepreneur Of The Year Ontario Media and Technology category award winner.”

Innovator at heart
Last night’s tribute served as the cherry on top of an already fruitful year for Segal. Last month, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking the stage at TEDGlobal, and he was bestowed both Medical Marketing & Media magazine’s Agency Marketer of the Year Gold Award and a 40 Under 40 Award by Direct Marketing News.

In the first half of 2014, he became a New York Times bestselling author with The Decoded Company (Portfolio/Penguin), delivered a keynote address at the Cannes Lions Health Creativity Festival, and was named one of the 100 Most Inspiring People in Health for the third consecutive year.

Known for his unconventional approach to business, Segal launched his first company at age 12, sold his first business when he was 14, was named CTO of publicly traded Motion Works Group by the time he was 16, and co-founded Klick in 1997 at the age of 17. He has also been named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Business Development Bank of Canada and a Top 40 Under 40 award winner by The Globe & Mail. He was inducted into PROFIT Magazine's Hall of Fame as the Youngest CEO ever to lead a Profit 100 company.
