Company Profile for Keaton Raphael Memorial

Supporting northern California children with cancer and their families, Keaton Raphael Memorial (KRM) recognizes significant 2014 milestones achieved, with gratitude to our generous contributors and invaluable volunteers. A 501c3 non-profit, KRM directly helps children with cancer and their families while also working to increase awareness and to fund research towards a cure.

In 2014, KRM received grants for this work from the Genentech Foundation ($90,000), Sierra Health Foundation ($12,500), Kaiser Permanente ($10,000), Wells Fargo Foundation ($10,000), the City of Roseville ($8,000), and the United Auburn Indian Community ($5,000). Also, Sutter Roseville Medical Center invested $20,000 in the Latino Leadership Council and KRM.

The child cancer charity was founded in 1998 in honor of 5-year old Keaton Raphael and his courageous battle with Neuroblastoma. Today, KRM partners with Sacramento area hospitals to identify children and their families coping with cancer before reaching out with programming to foster hope, strength and healing. The charity provides assistance to over 500 children and families each year. Grants received this year specifically recognize KRM’s success in adapting to serve a growing, diverse population of children and their families.

In support for KRM’s service to Latino/Hispanic families affected by childhood cancer, partner Kaiser Permanente offers the following statement: “During an already difficult time, these families may face additional barriers including language, insurance, immigration status, and other challenges. Beginning in 2011, Kaiser Permanente provided funding for the Family Navigator Program, which resulted in the addition of a bilingual/bicultural staff person. As a result of our continued partnership, 47% of the clients currently served by KRM are Latino/Hispanic. By providing specialized materials and outreach for Latino/Hispanic families with a child diagnosed with cancer, institutional barriers to care are reduced and families are able to focus on their child and family during this challenging time.”

Since its founding, KRM has raised more than $1 Million for pediatric cancer research in local hospitals and is a national leader in pediatric cancer and support. KRM is among the single largest donors for the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Learn more at www.childcancer.org.
