Help us with Jiu-Jitsu Tournaments for Children

A group in Texas has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds to host their first kids’ state tournament in Jiu-Jitsu and to promote fair and affordable competition in the sport.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a popular adult sport in many areas, and groups dedicated to training children in this sport are also springing up throughout the United States.  Now, a group in Texas has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for their first Jiu-Jitsu competition in the state of Texas for children in August 2015.  Funds will also be used to buy new mats and to promote fair and affordable competition for kids.  In the future, all tournament information will be published at the Texas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Website.

The contribution levels for this project, as seen at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/brazilian-jiu-jitsu-tournaments-for-children, include a boxed set of five DVDs at four teaching levels to instruct both adults and children in the principles of Jiu Jitsu,  a boxed set of two DVDs containing several games to make Jiu-Jitsu more interesting to children, private Jiu Jitsu classes, membership in the state organization for children and adults, and retailer packages.  In all, more than $8,000 of perks are available to donors.

According to founder Joao Crus, “Many of our traditional institutions are failing to provide the necessary foundation and requisite life lessons for adulthood.  Rather than passively accepting the status quo, I chose to take direct action and work towards a solution using one of the most powerful teaching methods that exists today.  The method that I’m referring to is Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.  Through my academy, videos and Texas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, I’ve witnessed a positive transformation in my young students as they embrace the “gentle art” of Jiu-jitsu and the life-lessons that this martial art imparts.  The results and success stories that I’ve witnessed have far exceeded all of my expectations.”

For more information on contributing and available perks, see the IndieGoGo page.
