AdvantaVita Launches New Vitamin D Supplements To Help Consumers At Risk Of Vitamin D Deficiency

Deerfield Beach, Florida-based AdvantaVita has launched a new vitamin D supplement, in an effort to help consumers who may be at a high risk of vitamin D deficiency. According to recent studies, this is a widespread problem in many areas today.

The Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition issued a report through Public Health England that details the risks of having vitamin D deficiency. The report can be viewed at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-draft-sacn-vitamin-d-and-health-report.

Dr. Reinhold Vieth, a professor at the University of Toronto and Scientific Advisor for the Canadian Vitamin D Consensus, said, "With increasing amounts of evidence suggesting that vitamin D may protect against cancer, heart disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and other chronic diseases, it's more important than ever to examine this issue more closely."

Pregnant women are at risk of vitamin D deficiency. In fact, recent studies show that pregnant women need more vitamin D than they can get through sunshine alone. Although a multi-vitamin could be beneficial, most do not offer the high levels of vitamin D needed to overcome a deficiency.

Most consumers get their daily dose of vitamin D through sunshine alone. Studies however, reflect that this is simply not enough, especially with many people working indoors. Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption, which can help to treat osteoporosis. Research also suggests that the vitamin can be very effective in warding off certain diseases and infections.

Guidelines recently put into effect in Canada state the recommended daily amount of vitamin D to be up to 1000 IU for adults under the age of 50. Those over 50, who are more susceptible to diseases and infections, should strive to reach levels of 800 to 2000 IU.

The high potency vitamin D3 released from Advanta Vita is made with olive oil and contains no colorants, preservatives, or additives. "Our product contains a full 5000 IU of vitamin D3 in one small capsule," says Chris Johnson, spokesperson for AdvantaVita. "Our product uses organic extra virgin olive oil. We believe that using organic and non-GMO ingredients is the best way to give our customers the efficacy they're looking for."
