Higher close on historic election day

The markets closed higher with the Dow climbing 73 points to 18,332 in anticipation of a Clinton victory. Nasdaq gained 27 points to 5,193.


On the upside


Osiris Therapeutics (Nasdaq: OSIR) reported preliminary restated revenue estimates for 2014 and 2015 and anticipated revenue for 2016.


Celldex Therapeutics (Nasdaq: CLDX) narrowed losses more than expected loss for the third quarter as revenue doubled.


Synchronoss Technologies (Nasdaq: SNCR) reported better than expected earnings for the third quarter.


On the downside


Kindred Healthcare (NYSE: KND) widened third quarter losses significantly and announced plans to exit the skilled nursing facility business.


BioScrip (Nasdaq: BIOS) reported a loss for the third quarter and cut its current quarter and full year forecast.


Depomed (Nasdaq: DEPO) widened third quarter losses more than expected and cut its full year forecast.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 9 to 7 on the NYSE and by nearly 5 to 4 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 gained 8 points to 2,139. Bitcoin added $4 to $704.
