Lottery.com Launches New App in Time for $650M Powerball Jackpot Fever

Lottery.com, the secure mobile lottery company, today announced the launch of their mobile app and global lottery platform, on the eve of the second largest Powerball jackpot in history, with Wednesday’s draw estimated at $650M. Lottery.com’s initial live play states, where users can play the Powerball right from their phone, include Texas and New Hampshire, among others. Along with the app launch, the company released results from a national survey in which 60 percent of lottery players expressed a desire for mobile lottery access, and 63 percent say they play the lottery when the jackpot is high. The survey, which was conducted online, found the majority of people would like the ability to play the lottery from their smartphones and use digital tools to monitor lottery results.

In 2016, the United States lottery industry reported a record 80 billion dollars in revenue and a nine percent increase in ticket sales from 2015, but the industry continues to struggle to attract millennial players. An estimated two billion dollars in prizes go unclaimed each year as players misplace and forget to check their tickets. Ten percent of survey respondents admit to having a winning ticket they failed to cash in, and 11 percent have lost tickets before the results were published. In a society where convenience is paramount to the success of nearly every industry, and cashless, instant-gratification solutions are catering to the millennial market, the lottery is now embracing a digital solution.
