Industry 4.0 is Happening. For Those Who Want to Lead the Change, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Education for Working Professionals Introduces Three New, Fully-accredited Graduate Certificates

The gap between where market leaders are and where they want to be will be filled by those who master Leading Change and Innovation, Managing Technical Organizations, and Supply Chain and Logistics.

HARTFORD, CT, March 10, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Education for Working Professionals has expanded its portfolio of fully-accredited graduate certificates with the introduction of Leading Change and Innovation, Managing Technical Organizations, and Supply Chain and Logistics.

"We spent the last few years consulting with market-leading companies in aerospace, finance, insurance, and literally every other industry," said Aric Krause, PhD, Dean of Rensselaer's Education for Working Professionals program, "who are fully committed to their investments in automation, data exchange, distributed decision-making and much more for the factories of the future. With this in mind, the next phase is the development of unique human abilities to lead the change, manage technical staff and infrastructure, and run increasingly complex supply chain and logistics."

So, Dean Krause and his leadership team filled this need with practical, project-based certificates founded upon Rensselaer's academic standards and customized to an individual student's job and career. Each certificate consists of three courses and qualifies for nine graduate credit hours. They take about one year to complete and can be stacked into a Master of Science in Engineering Science degree or combined with four core courses in a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering and Technology Management degree.

"Traditional undergraduate programs produce line-level engineers and managers," said Dean Krause, "while traditional masters programs produce professors and researchers. Our program is different: we're taking experienced professionals and teaching them practical, hands-on, higher level approaches to be more effective at solving organizational day-to-day problems. They expect and receive an immediate return on their investment."

The new graduate certificates join the five current offerings which range from Business Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Six Sigma/Lean Quality in Production. The programs are taught by Faculty Practitioners who provide real world industry expertise, advice, and mentorship, along with interactive, project-based instruction.

"No matter how technology changes the way employers do business, there are an increasing number of challenges that only humans – with the right combination of abilities and experience – can do. Of course, humans must prepare for those roles, and Rensselaer's programs are designed precisely to help them in that endeavor," says Krause. "We invite you to take Rensselaer to work as you prepare yourself and your teams to lead in this new frontier."
