As the IBC 2010 show opens in Amsterdam, new research from D. I. S. Consulting reveals that up to 13% of video and television production companies plan to acquire at least one item of 3D equipment during 2011.Most 3D equipment will be rented rather than bought, and the most popular 3D segments will be displays and processors.
“The 3D market is in its early stages,” says Douglas I. Sheer, Chief Analyst at D. I. S. Consulting. “But we are already seeing signs that producers are ready to step up their investments in 3D related technologies. Our survey suggests that vendors should plan for a significant boost to 3D equipment demand during 2011.”
D. I. S. Consulting, together with its partners at Strategy Analytics, will formally unveil further detailed findings from their newly released 3D surveys on Saturday, September 11, 2010 during the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam, when BSkyB’s Director of Product Development, Brian Lenz, will be guest speaker.
