Other Events

On October 7, 2008, Nalco Holding Company announced the sales and earnings impacts of hurricanes Gustav and Ike on its operations. In addition it declared force majeure and allocation restrictions on products containing ethylene oxide as a result of hurricane disruptions and a separate force majeure on products containing tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP) from an unrelated supply disruption. Details are included in the press release attached as exhibit 99.1 and that is incorporated by reference.
