Geoff Martha Video #2 on Covidien Integration
To publish live on InSite: 9.10.14
Statement on site accompanying video: Senior Vice President and Chief Integration Officer, Geoff Martha, speaks about how Medtronic and Covidien leaders are coming together to create Regional and Functional Planning Teams that will support the Integration Management Office (IMO) during the acquisition process.
Transcript and Legends:
This is a highly conditional transaction and further details can be found on the transaction website www.globalmedtechleader.com
Now the IMO is supported by a number of integration planning team leads and weve divided those up into various areas. So one is the functional. So weve taken functional leads from both Covidien and Medtronic. Just go down the listHR, IT, Legal, Finance, Business Development, etc.and weve paired the functional teams together to talk about a couple of things. One is in the new organization, how will these functions be organized and how will they run, as well as within their function, where are opportunities for savings. Okay. So thats the functional team leads. In addition, we have business and/or product focus teams supporting the different groups and different businesses within both Covidien and Medtronic. So each business, if you will, in the case of Medtronic, each group has a point person thats representing them and interacting with the functional teams and interacting with the IMO, to have their voice in all of these decisions that were making.
And then finally, the regions. So each region has a small team that is also supporting the IMO to talk about how each region will be organized. And again, any structural decisions were making. Like for example, IT is a good one. If were making an IT decision to convert to a system like SAP, what kind of impact does that have on the businesses and the regions? And the business and the regional representatives who articulate what that decision means and what are the trade-offs to the function teams and to the IMO.
