The Presidio Group LLC (“Presidio”), an independent merchant banking firm focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and investments in the automotive retail and consumer mobility sectors, exclusively advised Dream Motor Group (“Dream”) on its acquisition of Bill Seidle’s Nissan and Bill Seidle’s Mitsubishi in Doral, Fla., from Bill Seidle’s Automotive Group.
The sale of the two adjacent dealerships and their related real estate closed April 1. The properties are located along a major commercial corridor serving the Miami metropolitan area and join Dream’s existing South Florida footprint, which includes Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay and Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables.
For Dream, owned by Joe Agresti, Nick Saban and Steve Cannon, the acquisition represents a strategic expansion in one of the most active automotive retail markets in the country.
“We’re thrilled to expand Dream Motor Group’s Florida footprint to Doral where we look forward to delivering dreams every day for our clients,” said Cannon, former CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA. “After bringing us this opportunity, the Presidio team’s unparalleled expertise was critical to navigating the transaction to a successful close.”
“I like winners,” said Saban, the national championship-winning college football coach. “More importantly, I like people who do what it takes to be a winner. The Presidio team and George Karolis embody that in the dealership M&A space.”
Agresti noted that he has built decades of trust with Karolis, president of The Presidio Group.
“Our business has an unfair reputation. I don’t understand how we earned that when I meet so many good people in automotive retail,” Agresti said. “As my goal is to transform that reputation, the single greatest compliment I can give is that Presidio and George Karolis are changing it. They are such good, honest, capable souls, and we thank them sincerely.”
For the Seidle family, the sale caps a long history of serving customers in the Miami area.
“Our family is proud to have been part of the South Florida automotive community for many years,” said Michael Seidle, president of Bill Seidle’s Automotive Group. “When Presidio reached out to us with the opportunity to partner with Dream Motor Group, we knew it was legitimate. Wherever long-term plans for the location lead, Dream Motor Group will be great stewards of the legacy we built over the years. We appreciate Presidio’s professionalism and expertise in guiding this transaction to a smooth close.”
For Presidio, the transaction is the latest chapter in a long relationship with Agresti and his partners.
“We are honored to be trusted advisors to Dream on this transaction. I’ve known Joe Agresti for nearly 30 years, since we started out in this business together, and it’s incredibly rewarding to come full circle to advise him today,” Karolis said. “Joe is a brilliant dealer and a genuine trailblazer in our industry. We also extend our thanks to Dream leadership, including Nick Saban, Steve Cannon and Randy Powell, for their unwavering trust in Presidio and congratulate them on another strategic acquisition.”
The transaction reinforces the attractiveness of major Sunbelt markets for well-capitalized dealership buyers.
“South Florida remains one of the most dynamic automotive retail markets in the country, and well-situated locations like these will always draw strong interest,” said Alex Watterson, Presidio managing director. “This acquisition demonstrates how thoughtful portfolio decisions can position a growth-oriented retailer like Dream for long-term success in markets it knows well.”
Alex Kurkin of Kurkin Forehand Brandes LLP provided legal counsel to Bill Seidle’s Automotive Group. Robert Plott, general counsel of Dream Motor Group, provided legal counsel to Dream.
The Presidio Group provided exclusive M&A advisory services to Dream Motor Group through its wholly owned investment bank, Presidio Merchant Partners LLC.
