What Happened?

Shares of aircraft leasing company FTAI Aviation (NASDAQ: FTAI) jumped 7.3% in the afternoon session after the company announced in a press release it closed a $2.0 billion warehouse financing facility for Strategic Capital’s second investment vehicle.

The facility closed August 14, was syndicated among 13 institutions, and includes a $1.0 billion accordion that could take capacity to $3.0 billion, FTAI said. Proceeds will fund the 2026 SPV’s purchases of on-lease, mid-life Boeing 737NG and Airbus A320ceo aircraft beginning this month, with FTAI performing all engine maintenance through its Maintenance, Repair and Exchange business.

A warehouse line is a revolving loan used to buy assets quickly before longer-term financing is arranged. FTAI said in its latest annual filing that Strategic Capital lets it stay asset-light while the partnerships become the primary buyers of those narrowbodies, so more third-party aircraft means more captive shop visits.

The first vehicle raised $2.0 billion of equity in October 2025, has committed about $6.0 billion across more than 300 aircraft, and is now in its harvest phase, Kallie Steffes, Head of Strategic Capital, said in a statement.

What Is The Market Telling Us

FTAI Aviation’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 43 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 26 days ago when the stock gained 5.6% on the news that the company announced that its joint venture, J&F Power Systems, secured an initial $1.465 billion purchase order for gas turbine generator sets.

J&F Power Systems, a partnership with Jereh Group, signed a five-year master supply agreement with a leading international cloud service provider. Under the agreement, the joint venture will provide Mod-1 mobile gas turbine generator sets to support the customer's power infrastructure buildout.

The equipment is scheduled for delivery in batches through November 2027 and will account for a substantial portion of FTAI Power's targeted 2027 unit deliveries. Payments will be made on a milestone basis, starting with an advance payment at signing and progressing through production, testing, and on-site commissioning. The final settlement includes performance-linked adjustments capped at a 10% reduction per unit. The master agreement also allows the cloud service provider to place additional purchase orders in the future, providing a path for the relationship to expand.

FTAI Aviation is up 10.4% since the beginning of the year, but at $232.15 per share, it is still trading 25.1% below its 52-week high of $310.04 from February 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of FTAI Aviation’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $8,491.
