Fairwinds Insights Drives Significant New Customer Acquisition Over H1 2021

Security, policy and governance helps customers that want to automate, monitor and enforce Kubernetes best practices

BOSTON - July 12, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Fairwinds, the leading provider of Kubernetes security, policy and governance software backed by a suite of services and open source tooling, has increased the total number of Fairwinds Insights customers by 300% since the start of 2021. Fairwinds Insights is the company's SaaS offering that simplifies the complexity of managing Kubernetes across dev, sec and ops teams. Insights has proven to be a natural progression for Fairwinds open source users that want to enable service ownership and realize the benefits across multiple clusters and multiple teams.

With Kubernetes continuing to hold its position as the de facto container orchestration platform, managing complexity as organizations add containerized applications into production environments is critical.

"Fairwinds is simplifying the complexity of Kubernetes, which makes the company very unique and interesting," said Chris Steffen, research director, information security at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA). "Kubernetes is complex enough on its own, and adding layers of management makes it more complicated. We identified eight Kubernetes cluster management pain points, and Fairwinds Insights addresses all of them. Fairwinds has found a way to bridge the gap between security and development, which gives developers a win."

Fairwinds milestones in H1 2021 include:

  • Updated Fairwinds Insights and launched a Self-Hosted version of the software, which is particularly useful for organizations bound by regulatory compliance requirements. These announcements helped to drive Insights growth by more than 300%.
  • Announced new Insights customer wins such as Flatfile, which is using Insights for both its Portal and Concierge SaaS solutions.
  • With 25,000+ new downloads, Fairwinds open source projects, including Polaris, Goldilocks, Pluto and Nova have increased 400% in the last six months.
  • Launched the Fairwinds Open Source Software (OSS) User Group to further connect with its users in order to build better open source tools for the Kubernetes community.
  • Further expanded its open source software suite with the introduction of Saffire, an open source project to eliminate a common single point of failure in Kubernetes clusters. Fairwinds also updated Polaris, its popular open source project for validating and enforcing Kubernetes deployments. Polaris now has more than 10,000 users spanning all industries.
  • Provided six scholarships to the Turing School of Software and Design for students who identify as Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) in order to bring diversity and unrecognized talent forward as the software developers of tomorrow.

"The continued adoption of Kubernetes requires organizations to implement security, policy enforcement and compliance," said Bill Ledingham, CEO of Fairwinds. "Fairwinds is uniquely positioned to offer the software needed, having built and maintained hundreds of production-grade clusters. We provide security alerting, service ownership and guardrails needed for reliability and cost optimization."
