Enel Green Power has broken ground on a 300 MW wind farm in Oklahoma and plans to establish a technician training center in Oklahoma City.

The Seven Cowboy wind farm in Washita and Kowa counties is expected to begin operations sometime this year, the renewable energy developer announced. The project utilizes 107 (manufacturer and model) wind turbines and is expected to generate over 1.3 TWh of energy each year when finished.

This project marks Enel Green Power’s 13th in Oklahoma. The company’s wind technician training center will be used to support new hires and will feature “state-of-the-art” simulation facilities for working inside wind turbines.

Employees will be taught safety, professional development, working at heights, ladder rescues, turbine repair and troubleshooting.

“Our process is straightforward: invest in STEM education to inspire students to join our industry, execute on our ambitious growth strategy to create new skilled jobs, and train new hires in-house to equip them for our open positions in Oklahoma and beyond,” Paolo Romanacci, head of Enel Green Power in the US and Canada, said in a statement.

Enel Green Power has 2 GW of wind energy capacity built or under construction in Oklahoma, which positions the developer as the state’s second-largest wind operator.
