It also shows the conflict he has with the fact that he wishes to start living on a ranch and retire as a civilian versus fighting against a new Mexican Cartel that is kidnapping American civilians and pushing drugs inside the country.
The entire series showcases the iron will of the protagonist as he tries to become a stronger and more mature person.
