The high-voltage direct current relay, as the core current control component, is a crucial support for the safe and stable operation of the new energy industry. At present, the application scenarios of high-voltage Dc Relays cover multiple core sectors such as new energy vehicles, energy storage stations, photovoltaic and wind power generation, etc. Among them, the demand in the new energy vehicle sector is particularly prominent: on average, each electric vehicle needs to be equipped with 5 to 8 high-voltage DC relays, which respectively undertake functions such as main circuit switching, pre-charging protection, and fast and slow charging control, serving as the "safety gate" of the vehicle's high-voltage system. When a vehicle experiences short circuits or overloads, it can quickly cut off the power supply to avoid the risk of thermal runaway. In the scenarios of energy storage and new energy power generation, high-voltage DC relays are responsible for battery group charging and discharging switching and current control of photovoltaic combiner boxes, which can effectively improve the efficiency of energy conversion and reduce system losses.

The selection and use of high-voltage DC relays need to focus on three core points

01

Parameter compatibility

The rated voltage should be 1.2 to 1.5 times higher than the system operating voltage, and a 2 times or more short-term current overload margin should be reserved to cope with large current conditions such as vehicle acceleration and fast charging;

02

Arc extinguishing performance verification

Priority should be given to products with ceramic arc extinguishing chambers, hydrogen-filled or magnetic blowout arc extinguishing structures to avoid arc burning of contacts and triggering adhesion faults;

03

Environmental adaptability

For vehicle-mounted and outdoor scenarios, the relays need to meet protection grades of IP67 or above, with working temperatures covering the range of -40°C to 125°C, and be able to withstand complex conditions such as vibration and salt fog.

With the widespread adoption of the 800V high-voltage platform and large-capacity energy storage systems, high-voltage DC relays are evolving towards higher voltage tolerance, smaller size, and longer lifespan. This technological upgrade will further promote the safe and efficient development of the entire new energy industry chain.
