SANTAQUIN, UT / ACCESS Newswire / May 18, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who is proud to honor Andrea C. Peabody for her distinguished contributions to special education, child advocacy and family-centered support. This recognition reflects decades of hands-on service to children with complex needs. She has devoted her career to ensuring young people are seen not as labels or systems problems, but as individuals deserving dignity, stability and opportunity.

In an interview with Marquis Who's Who, Ms. Peabody explained that schools too often move children to other campuses or special placements when the better solution is to move the resources, equipment and support services to the child. "Keep the child where they are, next to where the parent is," she said. "It's going to be more familiar."

In Ms. Peabody's view, students are better served when they remain in familiar surroundings close to their families, with accommodations built into an individualized education program, behavior plan or 504 plan as needed. That philosophy, simple but powerful, reflects the heart of her work.

Ms. Peabody has served as a self-employed special education consultant since 2000, working primarily on a freelance basis within school systems and, more recently, settling into the Nebo Unified School District in Utah. Her career has focused on children needing special education or behavioral support and on advocacy for at-risk youth, particularly those whose needs are often misunderstood or underestimated.

She has long urged parents, schools and support teams to look beyond stereotypes tied to age or developmental stage and instead examine the deeper reasons behind a child's behavior. "Always see kids as individuals, considering their development and ages-they are unique," she said. "Avoid defaulting to stereotypes like, 'Oh, they're doing this because they're 5' or 'because they're teenagers.'"

Among the achievements Ms. Peabody is proudest of is her role in starting the wraparound system in San Diego County, California, a model that brought coordinated resources to children across the county and eventually throughout the state. She considers that work to be one of the most significant accomplishments of her career and stands as a lasting example of her commitment to making systems work better for children and families. She credits many of the people she worked with during the wraparound program, including social workers and counselors, for helping provide the tools and support that allowed struggling children to grow into healthy, successful adults.

Ms. Peabody's professional path has been shaped not only by consulting and systems work but also by deeply personal service. She was a foster parent in San Diego County for 21 years, from 1986 to 2007, and that experience remains central to the way she understands children. Her extended background notes that some of the most meaningful work of her life involved caring for some of the most challenging foster cases in the system, including children with reactive attachment disorder and teenagers presenting with schizophrenia.

In her Marquis Who's Who interview, she spoke with pride about one non-speaking autistic child who, through hard work and support, later attended college and now holds a job. For Ms. Peabody, these outcomes represent the real measure of success: not recognition alone, but transformation in a child's life.

What makes Ms. Peabody's voice especially distinctive is her refusal to overcomplicate what children often need most: understanding, individualized support and adults willing to do the work. "Nobody else needs to know about these accommodations-it's just between the parent and the team working with the child," she emphasized. "The whole classroom doesn't need to be aware of what's happening; it remains a private matter discussed among the relevant adults." This grounded, child-centered approach has made her a trusted advocate for families navigating difficult educational and behavioral situations.

"Andrea C. Peabody exemplifies the caliber of child advocate and education leader Marquis Who's Who is proud to chronicle," the editorial team stated. "Her work in special education, foster care and wraparound support reflects a career defined by compassion, persistence and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child."
