International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training approve CE courses for five years; Nightingale’s first offering will be an implicit bias workshop

Nightingale College, a national leader in distance learning prelicensure nursing education programs, today announced the College is now an officially accredited provider for continuing education (CE). The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) approved Nightingale College’s accreditation for a full five-year cycle after a virtual site visit.

The first course will be an Implicit Bias Training/Workshop, which is being offered at no cost to all College collaborators and learners. Studies show nurses are not immune to implicit bias and that it has consequences, including strained patient/provider relationships and a negative impact on clinical outcomes.

Nightingale College is currently developing several additional CE offerings, including:

  • “Learner Engagement in the Online Setting”
  • “Applying Adult Learning Models in the Online Teaching Environment”
  • “Facilitation or Teaching? Which is Supported by Andragogy?”
  • “Recognizing Opportunities for Celebrating Diversity in the Learner Population”

IACET developed the Continuing Education Unit (CEU), which allows providers of continuing education and training to deliver high-quality instruction and offer recognized continuing education credits by following the ANSI/IACET 2018-1 Standard for Continuing Education and Training through a rigorous accreditation process.

Nightingale College is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). ABHES is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a private, non-profit, independent accrediting agency.

In January 2021, the College was accepted as a candidate for regional accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The non-profit membership organization granted the pre-accreditation status after considering evidence provided by the College during 2020 and from a virtual site visit last October.

Nightingale College offers a prelicensure bachelor’s degree in nursing, Practical Nursing (PN) diploma as well as a Registered Nurse (RN)-to-Bachelor of Science Nurse (BSN) program and a master’s degree in nursing education. For more information about Nightingale College, please click here.
