Overmatch Raises $250M Fund II After Top-Decile Debut

Fund to back the founders building America's technological and industrial future.

Overmatch Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in deep tech, defense, and space, today announced it has raised an oversubscribed second fund at $250 million. The raise follows the firm’s $70 million debut fund, which has generated strong early performance through early investments in companies like xAI, Saronic, CHAOS Industries, Nominal, Impulse Space, and Armada AI.

Overmatch is led by General Partners Evan Loomis, co-founder of ICON and Saturn Five, Jordan Blashek, a Marine combat veteran and repeat entrepreneur, and Morgan Hitzig, a U.S. Navy combat veteran and company builder.

Since inception, the firm has invested exclusively in deep tech, defense, and space—sectors at the heart of the global superpower race. Overmatch believes founders hold the keys to America's victory and has stood with them from day one. The firm provides capital from seed through growth, access to government and defense networks, and operational support where it's needed most. Overmatch's goal is to earn the right to be a founder's first call.

Fund II expands this strategy with larger initial check sizes, the ability to lead rounds, and a concentrated portfolio of approximately 25 core investments at Seed and Series A. Overmatch stays with its founders well past early investment, using Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to provide growth capital through Series B and beyond, and drawing on the firm’s operational experience to help them navigate government procurement, regulatory complexity, and global markets.

"We believe founders are the heroes of this story," said Evan Loomis, General Partner at Overmatch. "They are the ones pushing into new frontiers and building the technologies that will define America’s future. Our job is to give them the capital and support to pursue the nearly impossible. Fund II allows us to back more founders earlier, and to continue supporting them as they scale."

Fund II is backed by a broad base of investors including institutional allocators, family offices, and strategic partners, whom Overmatch works with as co-investors. In Fund I, Overmatch deployed more than $140 million in co-investment alongside the firm’s $70 million fund, giving portfolio companies access to follow-on capital and giving fund investors direct exposure to Overmatch's deals. That model has enabled the firm to grow its assets under management to more than half a billion across its platform.

"The nation that moves first to secure the technological high ground will lock in advantages that compound for decades,” said Jordan Blashek, General Partner at Overmatch. “This is a defining race, and America has to win. We are proud to back founders building in service of that mission, and grateful to partner with LPs who share our sense of urgency."

Beyond capital, Overmatch aims to serve as a bridge by connecting founders directly with government buyers and operators, compressing the distance between emerging capability and real-world deployment. To that end, Overmatch regularly convenes novel initiatives like Endless Frontiers and the Demand Signal Forum, which are designed to connect founders with investors and government to accelerate pathways to scale.

"America has won every major technological race for the past century, and we'll win this one too," said Morgan Hitzig, General Partner at Overmatch. "But it won't happen by accident. It takes founders with courage, capital with conviction, and a government willing to move. That alignment is happening now—and the teams we back are at the center of it."
