Upgrades to the storied Daytona Beach ballpark arrive ahead of Jackie Robinson Day on April 15

As baseball honors Jackie Robinson on April 15, the ballpark that bears his name has reached a milestone of its own. Barton Malow, in partnership with the City of Daytona Beach, the Daytona Tortugas, and architect partner MSA Design, has completed Phase 1 of a comprehensive renovation of Jackie Robinson Ballpark — delivering meaningful improvements to a venue that holds a singular place in the history of the game.

Jackie Robinson made his historic spring training debut at this Daytona Beach ballpark in 1946, breaking the color barrier in professional baseball and changing the sport forever. Nearly 80 years later, the 105-year-old facility is being transformed into a modern home for the Daytona Tortugas while preserving the character and significance that define it.

PHASE 1 IMPROVEMENTS

Phase 1 of the renovation delivers a wide range of upgrades for players, fans, and staff:

• State-of-the-art player development facility
• New home and away clubhouses
• New team stores and offices
• Indoor batting cages
• Upgraded dugouts and club seating areas
• Accessible parking improvements
• Infrastructure enhancements throughout the facility

The improvements position the ballpark for continued use as a premier Minor League Baseball venue while honoring the integrity of its historic site.

LOOKING AHEAD

Phase 1 marks the first chapter of a multi-phase renovation that will continue to elevate the Jackie Robinson Ballpark experience for players, fans, and the Daytona Beach community. Additional phases will build on the foundation established by this work, further modernizing one of Minor League Baseball's most storied venues.
