The recognition distinguishes BCI Cedar Falls as a model for workplace safety and health among its industry peers and reflects the facility’s commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive working environment for its employees.
Guests experienced firsthand how safety is integrated throughout the Cedar Falls operation. Attendees toured the manufacturing facility, viewed production equipment and processes, connected with BCI team members, and learned about the systems and practices that helped the facility earn SHARP recognition.
“Achieving SHARP recognition is a direct reflection of our employees and their commitment to looking out for one another every day,” said Andrew Ogden, General Manager, BCI Cedar Falls. “Safety is not simply a policy or program at this facility. It is part of our culture and an essential part of how we operate. This achievement belongs to the entire Cedar Falls team.”
SHARP recognizes qualifying employers that have used OSHA’s On-Site Consultation Program and operate exemplary workplace safety and health programs. To qualify, participating facilities must complete a comprehensive consultation, correct identified hazards, and demonstrate an effective system for continuously identifying and addressing workplace safety risks.
The event brought together approximately 100 attendees for an afternoon of employee activities, local food trucks, facility tours, and remarks from BCI and community leaders. Participating food trucks included Burger Box, Kona Ice, and Fried Fun Cakes.
The celebration concluded with remarks from BCI leadership and Cedar Falls officials, followed by the official presentation of the SHARP flag by OSHA representatives.
"BCI's SHARP certification exemplifies the kind of employee-first mentality that I'm proud to recognize. Our communities are only as strong as the businesses and families who call them home. And as someone whose job it is to look out for the well-being of the community at large, it means a lot to me to know we have employers like BCI doing the same thing for their teams right on the shop floor," said Cedar Falls Mayor Danny Laudick.
The SHARP designation reinforces BCI Cedar Falls’ ongoing commitment to employee participation, hazard prevention, safety training, continuous improvement, and strong leadership engagement. It also provides the facility with an opportunity to share successful workplace safety practices with customers, partners, and other employers throughout the region.
Located at 2900 Capital Way, the Cedar Falls facility manufactures corrugated packaging solutions for customers throughout the region. The operation is part of BCI’s national network, combining responsive local service with the resources, scale, and expertise of an American Sourced and Made manufacturing organization.
