The “Dream Trip in Zhejiang: Discovering Zhejiang's Beauty” study program for international students was officially launched in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Jointly initiated by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, and Zhejiang Media Group, the program aims to offer immersive experiences that allow students from around the world to discover an open, inclusive, and dynamic Zhejiang through travel and exploration.
From Books to Journeys: Immersive Exploration of Poetic Zhejiang
Leveraging Zhejiang’s rich natural and cultural resources, the program introduces multiple themed study routes. These routes connect the cultural heritage of Zhejiang, the charm of water towns, tea and bamboo ecology, and maritime civilization, blending the elegance of Song Dynasty aesthetics with traditional intangible cultural heritage. From ancient cities with millennia of history to digital light and shadow experiences, from archaeological workshops to fishing port explorations, the integration of tradition and technological innovation offers international students a distinctive cultural perspective.
Bilingual Textbook Discovering Zhejiang Released: A Practical Cultural Guide
At the launch ceremony, the bilingual textbook Discovering Zhejiang was officially unveiled. Jointly compiled by nine universities in Zhejiang Province and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, the book combines printed content with digital media resources, systematically presenting the humanities, geography, technological development, and intangible cultural heritage of the 11 cities of Zhejiang.
The book features a dedicated section titled “A Tour of Zhejiang,” transforming textual content into experiential study routes while establishing a standardized bilingual terminology system to support cross-cultural communication.
Digital Empowerment: One-Stop Access to Study Services
A dedicated section for the program will be launched on Zhejiang’s inbound tourism smart service platform “Zhejiang Travel”. International students can use the platform to browse routes, make reservations, and access convenient digital services for their study tours.
As an annual cultural highlight for international students in Zhejiang, the “Dream Journey in Zhejiang” series aims to deepen understanding of Chinese culture, showcase Zhejiang’s development achievements, and promote cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world. Over its 19-year history, the program has attracted participation from more than 50 universities across the province and tens of thousands of international students from over 170 countries and regions, becoming an important platform for cultural exchange and for sharing Chinese culture globally.
On the same day, the 19th Chinese Cultural Talent Showcase for International Students was also held. Through diverse forms such as dance, music, drama, and intangible cultural heritage performances, participants demonstrated the richness of Chinese culture and the vibrant exchange between civilizations.
Organizers expressed their hope that every international student will measure Zhejiang’s poetic landscapes with their footsteps and connect with its millennia-old cultural heritage through personal experience, becoming a bridge for cultural exchange. From textbook to journey, Discovering Zhejiang will serve as a vital link connecting international students with Zhejiang, helping share authentic, warm, and inspiring stories of the province with the world.
