CloudZen Partners, an IT consulting firm specializing in the defense industry, has introduced its own CMMC compliance assessment service, with a pricing structure that offers more cost savings for contractors. The service is aimed at defense startups, especially those unfamiliar with the strict cybersecurity requirements that come with working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

According to CloudZen Partners, it designed its assessment service as a more transparent and cost-effective alternative to what is being offered by most suppliers. “Defense startups looking to win their first contracts are limited to traditional suppliers that charge exorbitant fees while failing to provide the level of analysis needed to satisfy strict CMMC requirements,” it added.
The firm’s compliance evaluation prepares a contractor for CMMC Level 2, the highest maturity level that contractors can apply for currently. CMMC is an assessment model designed by the DoD aimed at streamlining cybersecurity assessments for contractors while ensuring the defense industrial base is adequately protected.
"The CMMC framework was developed to meet the complex demand of the DoD, and meeting its long list requirements is a task beyond the capabilities of most defense startups looking to win their first contract. That is where our expertise comes into play," CloudZen Partners stated.
CloudZen Partners’ process begins with a comprehensive evaluation of one’s cybersecurity posture, or overall readiness, against CMMC Level 2 requirements. The National Defense Information Sharing and Analysis Center said that this level has 110 security requirements, which were set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The result of that thorough analysis is a plan of actions and milestones (POAM) and a budget proposal for meeting the tasks listed in the document. CloudZen Partners will also offer guidance in the implementation of the POAM, advising on the selection and procurement of necessary technologies needed through regular meetings and reviews over a span of 90 days.
Furthermore, part of CloudZen Partners’ compliance assessment is the preparation of artifacts, or documentation showing evidence that the contractor has complied with the required practices and processes needed for CMMC Level 2 certification.
CloudZen Partners’ CMMC readiness assessment starts at $5,000 for contractors with fewer than 100 employees. “Post-readiness” advice delivered by a dedicated virtual chief information security officer is also available for a monthly fee.
