History and Mission of the Foundation
Fondation La Colombe Œuvres Sociales was born from a spirit of compassion and a vision for justice. Founded by committed community leaders including Mrs. Hamida Shatur Kamerhe, the foundation is dedicated to uplifting marginalized populations throughout the DRC. Since its inception, La Colombe has implemented sustainable, community-led initiatives aimed at addressing complex challenges in health, education, and empowerment.

New Campaign: Albino Awareness & Inclusion
The Albino Awareness Campaign, launching 1 July 2025, seeks to confront superstitions and raise awareness about albinism, a genetic condition caused by a lack of melanin—not a curse. The campaign will offer educational resources online and launch media campaigns aimed at teaching Congolese and African communities how to live in harmony and treat people with albinism with respect, dignity, and understanding.
Other Key Projects & Beneficiaries
La Colombe also continues its support for:
- Rural women, through entrepreneurship and agriculture
- Children of soldiers, via vocational training (500 enrolled)
- Sport and apprenticeship programs, empowering over 800 women
- People with disabilities, who remain a priority in all programs
