The 2026 Maurizio Chiriva-Internati STEM Scholarship has been awarded to Paige Heilman, an exceptional student pursuing her studies at Mayville State University in Mayville, North Dakota. Designed specifically to support students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, this award recognizes Heilman’s passion for scientific advancement. Her application highlighted a deep understanding of current challenges within her chosen STEM discipline and articulated a clear, innovative vision for how she intends to contribute to future technological and scientific breakthroughs.
Each recipient will receive a $1,000 award, which will be deposited directly into their university financial aid accounts to support their ongoing tuition and educational expenses.

Holding a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Nottingham and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Milan, he has dedicated his career to the intersection of scientific research and executive leadership. As an Associate Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, his pioneering research in cancer-testis antigens, dendritic cell vaccines, and tumor microenvironments has resulted in over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and more than 8,000 citations.
Beyond his academic tenure, Dr. Chiriva-Internati is a visionary biotechnology entrepreneur who has successfully translated complex immunological discoveries into tangible clinical applications.
