(Matthew Du, NewsUSA Reporter) - Dallas is visited by heavy rains often, with its wettest month being in spring and in May. Recently, increasingly severe stormy weather has been all over the city. With the threat of rain looming, here are some things to watch out for and what to do when you encounter them.
1. Aquaplaning
This refers to the build-up of rainwater directly between the tire and the road. When this happens, vehicles ride on rain droplets instead of the road surface which leads to sliding because of little to no friction. Decrease your speed in tumultuous conditions to prevent this.
2. Flash flood
These floods occur after severe rain for a short amount of time. Make sure to religiously monitor the rain and flood alerts. Stay at home or in an accessible area.
