LOS ANGELES - Sept. 28, 2026 - PRLog -- The fans have spoken: in Capcom's official Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Poll, Albert Wesker was voted the #1 villain in franchise history, ahead of HUNK and Jack Krauser, while Leon S. Kennedy took the top hero spot. The poll was held through Capcom's official Resident Evil Portal, and the results were published in the commemorative book Nikkei Entertainment! BIOHAZARD 30th Special. The result cements Wesker's place as the definitive Resident Evil antagonist three decades after the series began. IGN previously ranked him #3 on its list of the most memorable video game villains.
D.C. Douglas voiced Albert Wesker from 2007 to 2019, performing the character across ten titles: The Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil 5 (for which he also provided face capture), The Darkside Chronicles, The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Umbrella Corps, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and TEPPEN.
"I freaking love Resident Evil fans! I stopped voicing Wesker 8 years ago, and he still finds ways to surprise me. This year a game came out that I'm not even in, and I still picked up a few thousand new followers! By God, people love their Wesker, and I'm so glad he has saturated the globe," said Douglas.
Douglas has long been a fixture on the convention circuit, where for nine years he performed The Notorious Zombie-Related Naughty Fanfic Show, a late-night, 18+ live reading of Resident Evil fanfiction that grew from a 30-minute panel in Florida to a two-hour finale at DragonCon 2022.
Wesker's enduring popularity continues in 2026 with the release of the official Albert Wesker Funko POP! Games figure (#1295).
Beyond Resident Evil, Douglas's on-camera credits include CSI: Vegas, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Elkhorn. He stars as land broker Warren McFarland in the western period drama Make the Devil Pay (Loonbird) and leads the noir thriller character study What Did You Do? (AAU).
