The story follows David, a boy with zero confidence in his ability. David believed he was insignificant and incapable of doing anything. Priscilla, his classmate, gets A's on every assignment. Another boy in his class, Henry, was brilliant at sports and often praised by Coach Henderson, who had claimed that Henry was going to make it big someday.
On the other hand, his classmates often taunt him because of his quiet demeanor and the fact that he came from a poor household. For the entire year, he wears the same worn-out pair of sneakers. David lost his father when he was nine, leaving him an old guitar that David played every night before bedtime. When Mr. Blackwood, a friend of his instructor Mrs. Cole, was forming a youth band. Mr. Cole visited the class to set up an audition for pupils who could play the guitar and were interested in trying out. David sees this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase his talent. David and his adversary, Justin, competed—who shall win and become an official band member?
