In his YouTube video, psychologist, journalist, and professor emeritus at CUNY, Bernard Starr, urges that it's time to face the truth that governments, industries, and citizens around the globe will not practice the extreme conservation measures necessary to meet nature's timetable for a climate apocalypse. Political, economic, and social constraints will continue to short-circuit effective action.
Starr asserts that science holds the only realistic prospect for preventing a climate apocalypse. He presents evidence that science has achieved “miracles in the past” and can do it again if given the structure and resources to accomplish a seemingly impossible task.
Comedian Henny Youngman once quipped: “A doctor gave a man six months to live. He couldn't pay his bill so the doctor gave him another six months.” As we approach and pass “points of no return” are climate scientists gratuitously giving us more time—time that we don't have?
